Sometimes people ask what the S stands for. The truth is that it means different things depending on the day.

Villa S started with a house, but it also started with the people who filled it. Summers together. Family lunches that lasted too long. Children running between the terrace and the pool. Conversations through open windows.

The S was never meant to be a mystery. It's just a letter that was already there — a letter that belongs to our family history.

Over time, we have found other meanings in it. Summer. Sea. Shade. Sur. Scent. But none of them was the first.

The S was, first and foremost, Silvia. Everything else came later.

And, at this point, the S will never mean a single thing again.

And the S is also Sonia. My sister. The one who appears smiling in some of these photographs.
