Notes on Mediterranean living — scent and memory, the slow afternoon, the small luxuries of an ordinary day.

The best seat in the house isn't inside
The vine over the table was a gift from my father-in-law, Pablo — just a stick when we planted it. Now it shades every summer breakfast, and returns each year a little bigger than before.

Meet the scentsMediterranean living, one slow afternoon at a time.
The Editorial is where the scents come from. We write about Mediterranean living the way we actually know it on the Mediterranean — the long, useless afternoon, lunch under the vine, orange blossom in spring, a gecko on a warm wall. Some pieces are about scent and ritual: how a citrus morning, a neroli afternoon and a lavender evening turn an ordinary day into something you remember.
Others are simply about the villa — its garden, its fruit, the people in it — and a few are recipes for the slow, golden afternoons that started this whole idea. It all leads back to the same place: small-batch Mediterranean home fragrance, and the feeling of a home by the sea kept long after summer ends.
